New rules for free bus travel under Shakti scheme: Smart cards to be issued to one crore women

The state government has issued a tender to distribute smart cards to one crore women for free bus travel under the Shakti scheme, costing approximately 250 crore rupees. These smart cards will require a Voter ID and Aadhaar card for collection, and participation in the SIR process is mandatory for accessing government guarantee benefits. The cards will initially be distributed to BMTC passengers and later to passengers of other transport corporations, and they can also be used for Namma Metro travel.
