Chinese envoy laments 'little progress' in reviving Bengaluru-Chengdu sister-city programme

China's Consul General in Mumbai, Qin Jie, lamented the 'little progress' in reviving the sister-city programme between Bengaluru and Chengdu. Speaking at the China-India BRICS Dialogue Seminar on Tuesday, he noted that while Karnataka and Sichuan are sister regions, Bengaluru and Chengdu have a sister-city relationship. Qin also highlighted that Bengaluru does not have a Chinese consulate office, citing difficulties imposed by the Government of India. He suggested that cooperation could be tapped through people-to-people contact and covering areas like agriculture and urban development.
