Supreme Court quashes 1988 Bengaluru land acquisition for housing society

The Supreme Court quashed the decades-old acquisition of about 59 acres and 39 guntas of land in Bengaluru’s Nelakadirenahalli village. The court held that the proceedings were vitiated by fraud and lacked prior government approval for the housing scheme. The apex court directed that possession of the land be restored to the respective landowners, and the respondent society shall have no claim over the lands.
