New policies planned for low-speed electric vehicles and carpooling services in Bengaluru

The State Transport Department plans to implement new rules for low-speed battery-operated electric two-wheelers and develop a new policy for app-based carpooling services. Transport Minister Bhairavi Suresh stated that the government is considering rules for low-speed EVs, including helmet use and registration, due to increasing violations. Furthermore, the department is planning necessary control measures to manage traffic congestion and ensure driver accountability.
