Karnataka High Court directs single officer to probe cases arising from same occurrence

The Karnataka High Court directed the state government to ensure that, in future, the investigation is entrusted to one and the same Investigating Officer when two crimes arise from the same occurrence and constitute a case and counter-case. The court set aside the chargesheets filed in both cases and directed the state government to entrust both complaints to an investigation officer not below the rank of a police officer for conducting a fresh investigation.
