Demand for comprehensive re-survey of Devadasis submitted to the Supreme Court

The Vikumakta Devadasi Women and Child Forum has demanded that the state government conduct a comprehensive re-survey and review the information submitted to the Supreme Court regarding the Devadasis system. Forum state coordinator Yamanurappa Koppala stated that the previous government survey identified 46,660 Devadasis, while the recent survey only includes 23,000. He urged that the survey should include all Devadasis by dropping the age limit and that a scientific re-survey must be conducted by visiting every home.
