Citizens seek environmental assessment of Hebbal tunnel project

A delegation of citizens met Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ramalinga Reddy and submitted a petition with over 21,000 signatures, seeking an environmental impact assessment for the proposed Hebbal short tunnel project. The citizens raised concerns regarding the loss of a biodiversity corridor, the impact on birds, and the proposed use of 3.5 acres of the lake. They also requested a public consultation and a comprehensive assessment of the area’s biodiversity, wildlife, and over 1,100 trees that face felling for the 2.3-km stretch.
