Yakshagana should be recognized as a classical art form, said Karnataka Yakshagana Academy President

At the 2026 awards ceremony, Karnataka Yakshagana Academy President Talluru Sivarama Shetty stated that Yakshagana should be recognized as a classical art form. He requested cooperation from all academies for this purpose. Purushottama Bilimale, Director of the Kannada Book Authority, and Gollahalli Shivprasada, Director of the Folklore Academy, were present. They discussed the establishment of a Yakshagana Digital Archives and the need to digitize the video, photo, and art information of Yakshagana artists.
