Universities must promote research and innovation, said BITS Pilani VC

At a lecture organized by Ramayya Institute of Technology (RTI) on the Dr. M.S. Ramayya Memorial Lecture, BITS Pilani Vice Chancellor Prof. V. Ramagopal Rao stated that universities must encourage research and innovation alongside education. He noted that while India ranks first globally in educational institutions and second in students accessing higher education, it ranks 38th and 54th in innovation and research, respectively. Prof. Rao also highlighted that India's research percentage in science is 5.31% compared to China's 20.67%, emphasizing the need for focus in this area.
