Son staged kidnapping drama to extort money from father in Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, an incident occurred on October 2, where a son allegedly staged a kidnapping drama to extort money from his father. The incident began on September 29, when a gang called Manish's father, Manohar Patil, via WhatsApp from Manish's mobile, demanding ₹90 lakh for the alleged kidnapping of the son. Manish had left home, stating he was going to Gadag for financial transactions. After the kidnapping call alarmed Manohar, he immediately informed the RR Nagar Police. Police tracked Manish's mobile, which was found switched off. Later, a call came from another number asking if the money was arranged, and police tracked that number, searching in the Hassan area. There, Manish was found sleeping peacefully with two friends. After detaining and questioning the three, the kidnapping drama was exposed. Manish confessed that he had staged the drama to repay a loan of ₹1.5 crore taken for an electric contract.
