Social Media Post Sparks Debate on House Cook Wages in Bengaluru

A social media post by Megha on X sparked a discussion regarding the monthly wages and quality of house cooks in Bengaluru. The post stated that for a two-person household, cooks are paid between ₹7,000 and ₹8,000 per month for two visits a day, with Sunday off. The post humorously noted that the pressure cooker is described as the cook's 'Astra,' handling everything from dal and potato to chicken. Commenters also compared Bengaluru's wages to Chennai, stating that cooks in Chennai receive ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 per month for a single visit.
