Vidhana Soudha police arrested Murali (45), an RTI worker, on charges of collecting money while impersonating Lokayukta officials. Murali, originally from Kolar, was allegedly using fake Lokayukta letterheads and even a fake Forest Officer ID card. Police stated that he was preparing fake documents, altering names and details from existing complaints, to file new corruption complaints against government officers. He would then contact the officers, implying the complaints were filed, and offered to settle or withdraw the complaints for a fee ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹50,000.
