Bengaluru rapper blends nadaswaram with West Coast hip-hop

Bengaluru rapper Kata, whose real name is Anoop K R, has released a new track called ‘South Funk’. The song blends Snoop Dogg’s West Coast hip-hop culture with South India elements, featuring a nadaswaram sample and a cow sound. Anoop, who is a graphic designer by profession, handles most aspects of the track himself, including writing, recording, and music production. He performs under the name Kata, which is drawn from the phrase “gundigala kaata” from his earlier pothole song ‘Aladsu’.
