Protest at Swatantrya Udyana demands protection for Western Ghats, river rejuvenation, and environmental laws

During a protest at Swatantrya Udyana in Bengaluru, activists demanded that no projects should be undertaken that destroy the Western Ghats. Protest leaders also demanded the preservation of small forests, forest patches, and natural environments across the state. They urged the government to formulate laws preventing environmentally damaging projects and to rejuvenate the state's 40,483 lakes.
