New Software Fees Cover Key Khata Services in Bengaluru

All five city corporations are implementing a wider fee structure, requiring citizens to pay for various civic services including e-Khata, B-Khata to A-Khata conversion, and new Khata/layout Khata. The charges, introduced as software fees for digital services, are earmarked for maintaining and upgrading technology used by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and the five corporations. Property owners in Bengaluru must now pay a 'software charge' along with property tax, with the complete fee schedule covering several services. Officials stated that separating the revenue collection was necessary to meet the expenditure related to software maintenance, operations, and data management.
