NCST Chairman recommends forming separate development commission for STs in Karnataka

At a press conference in Bengaluru, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Chairman Antar Singh Arya stated that the state government should form separate development commissions for Scheduled Tribes (STs). He noted that the NCST had held a progress review meeting on Thursday regarding the implementation and safety measures for ST development programs in the state. Arya also directed the government to increase the reservation percentage for the community, which has 7% of the state's population, from the current 3% to match the population proportion. Additionally, he advised taking serious action on complaints registered at the district level concerning STs.
