Karnataka High Court postpones hearing on 'Vande Mataram' mandatory singing rule

The state government informed the High Court that singing 'Vande Mataram' is not mandatory, unlike the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. The High Court has postponed the hearing on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the state government's circular that mandated singing the first two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' in state programs. The Supreme Court has also postponed the hearing regarding the amendment to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the status of the national anthem.
