Bengaluru job market puts price on skills; 9 in 10 employers question tier-2/3 degrees as reliable evidence of capability

According to Gi Group Holding's latest report, Bengaluru's fresher hiring market is prioritizing demonstrable skills over degrees. The report, based on 1,329 respondents across 12 sectors and eight cities, found that 64% of employers said fewer than 40% of freshers clear initial skill assessments. Furthermore, 76% of employers now prioritize practical proof—such as certifications, software fluency, and internships—for Tier-2/3 graduates, while academic merit drives only 6% of decisions.
