High Court: Applicants do not have an automatic right to court proceedings archive records

The High Court recently ordered that applicants do not have an automatic right to obtain copies of court proceedings archives. A single-judge bench clarified that according to Rules 8 and 10 of the Karnataka Court Proceedings Live Broadcast and Recording Rules-2021, applicants can only get copies if the bench specifically orders it. The bench dismissed the petition filed by A. Satyanarayana Swamy (72), challenging the High Court Administration Division's decision to deny copies of archived records from an appeal hearing.
