Four transport corporations face ₹8,000 crore loss; Minister highlights financial distress in Bengaluru

Transport Minister Bairathi Suresh stated that the four state transport corporations are facing a loss of ₹8,000 crore due to four consecutive increases in diesel and petroleum product prices. He noted that despite the loss, BMTC, KSRTC, NEKRTC, and NWRTC have not increased their ticket fares. Suresh added that the transport department is working to convince CM D.K. Shivakumar to allow fare increases for the survival of the corporations and to provide necessary funds for paying salaries.
