FDA official suspended in fake medicine network case; Govt plans strict action

Following the fake medicine network case in Bengaluru, Circle-1 Assistant Drug Controller Omkareshwar has been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty. The state FDA is considering forming a new law to curb the sale of fake medicines and permanently blacklisting manufacturing companies found to have substandard or fake drugs. Health Minister U.T. Khadar stated that the FDA is collecting information from patients regarding any adverse effects from consuming fake medicines.
