Demand for resignation of Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoyizam

Former Legislative Council member Bharati Shetty demanded the resignation of Congress MP Prof. Angomcha Bimol Akoyizam, who faces allegations of sexual harassment against female students. Speaking at a protest organized by BJP Mahila Morcha workers outside the Congress office on Monday, she stated that the allegations against Akoyizam are not proven. She added that the Jawaharlal Nehru University took action to dismiss him from service because the allegations were proven. The BJP condemned the MP's actions and demanded that Priyanka Gandhi provide a clarification regarding the Congress's support for the accused. The police detained and later released over 200 BJP workers who attempted to surround the Congress office.
