Delay in Bengaluru's door-to-door garbage collection system leads to re-tendering of seven packages

Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML) is re-tendering seven packages for the city’s door-to-door garbage collection system. The delay follows issues with the lowest bidders declining to accept Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) due to bid validity expiry. Officials noted that contractors are resisting new contracts because they require investments of at least Rs 10 crore for new GPS-fitted vehicles. BSWML is working to revamp the system, having previously floated tenders for 33 packages in June last year.
