CM DK Shivakumar congratulates MR Poovamma for Asian Games medals

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar called MR Poovamma, a renowned Karnataka athlete, to congratulate her on winning gold and silver medals at the Asian Games' women's 4x400-meter relay and mixed 4x400-meter relay. Following the medal win, Poovamma arrived in Mangaluru on Friday. She expressed dissatisfaction with the state government's support, stating that other states offer up to 3 crore rupees for gold medal winners, compared to the 35 lakh rupees offered by the Karnataka government. She urged the state government to increase the prize money and support all athletes in the state.
