BMTC faces financial strain, struggling to pay salaries and manage dues

The KSRTC Employees’ Union alleged on Sunday that the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is struggling to pay salaries and has pending gratuity for over 1,000 employees since 2023. The union also stated that the corporation must pay Rs 650 crore in diesel dues and that the government must pay at least Rs 6,500 crore towards the Shakti scheme. The union warned that the shortage of funds has affected BMTC’s fleet maintenance, leading to increased accidents.
