BMTC bus fares hike by 35%, exceeding Namma Metro rates on several routes

Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has suddenly increased bus fares by 35%, effective from Wednesday night. According to the revised fare list, BMTC bus fares are now higher than Namma Metro fares on several routes, contrary to the expectation that bus fares should generally be cheaper than metro fares. For instance, the Metro fare from Majestic to Vijayanagar is 20, while the BMTC bus fare has increased to 25. Similarly, the Metro fare from Majestic to Jayanagar is 30, but the BMTC fare has reached 35.
