Biometric attendance mandatory for degree students in Bengaluru colleges

The Higher Education Department plans to make biometric attendance mandatory for students studying in government and aided degree colleges and universities. The system is being designed to link biometric attendance with the examination system, preventing students from generating exam admit cards if they do not maintain at least 75% attendance. Officials stated that the system will be implemented from the next academic year after completing necessary preparations and tender processes by the end of the 2026–27 academic year.
