BESCOM to temporarily exclude 16 lakh beneficiaries from Gruha Jyoti scheme

BESCOM is likely to temporarily exclude 16.09 lakh beneficiaries from the Gruha Jyoti scheme. This is due to 16.09 lakh houses being locked or 28,519 houses being vacant, making document verification difficult. BESCOM has extended the final deadline to October 31, 2026, for the owners and tenants of locked houses to benefit. Beneficiaries who were missed during the survey due to locked houses must visit their nearest BESCOM sub-divisional office with Aadhaar card, Voter ID, recent electricity bill, and rent agreement (if a tenant).
