Advocate General objects to rushed application regarding Vande Mataram

During the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by lawyer Girish Bharadwaj, the Advocate General clarified that there are no separate statutory provisions regarding the national anthem as per Article 51A of the Constitution. The division bench, led by Justice Anu Sivaraman, heard the PIL challenging the state government's order limiting Vande Mataram to two verses. Advocate General K. Shashikiran Shetty defended the government's action, stating that the central government's circular does not mandate that Vande Mataram must be sung by everyone. He also noted that the order mentions that Vande Mataram can be sung completely in other contexts.
