Activists allege Bengaluru North City Corporation dog shelter is dumping stray dogs illegally

Activists allege that dogs are being caught from residential neighborhoods and dumped at the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) dog shelter, violating Supreme Court directions. Sadhana Hegde, founder of Sahavarthin Animal Welfare Trust, stated that the agency assigned for pickup duties is allegedly monetarily incentivized to fill the shelter. BNCC chief veterinary officer Dr HK Gangadharaiah dismissed these claims, stating that the agency is not authorized to pick up dogs from any neighborhood.
